CHAPTER 2 TITLE: Redimensioning Human Sexuality Through a Psychophysics Perspective

Sexuality has always been a delicate, uncomfortable and controversial subject in all-time human culture. Yet it remains a central aspect of human ontology. This offer of Chapter 2 of the Monograph furnishes stringent analytic basis to a subjective and disabused matter of human behavior. The authors hereby present an incisive research of human sexuality in an unpaired analytic depth and boldness.

Human sexuality has always been a delicate, uncomfortable and controversial subject in all-time human culture and under all latitudes. Yet it remains one of the most central aspects, if not the most significant aspect, of human ontology. It is manifest not only at the individual level in the act of intercourse between male and female (or their surrogates), but also at the social level both in the societal adoption of a form of gender primacy in social organization as portrayed in patriarchal v. matriarchal organization and in the overt censorship of the female gender and its attributes in certain patriarchal cultures. The study of human sexuality in the West has been exclusively based on the history of sexuality as it has been experienced in Europe and North America. Inasmuch as the results of such studies are aimed at consolidating a science to be applied in the Western World, in therapeutic settings involving dysfunctions experienced by people in the West, this limitation in scope is quite understandable from a practical point of view. However, the conclusions of such studies should not be considered universally applicable or imposed to practice under other latitudes where social elements of the sexual phenomenon significantly differ from the experience of the West, and even in the West amongst indigenous cultures. It is also clear that most practitioners in those other countries or regions of the world do apply the corresponding restrictions demanded by culture in their clinical practice. That said, one must understand that there are observable facts common to the experience under all latitudes and which should inform theory in the quest for a universal science of Mind. The many rampant social and cultural taboos about sexuality certainly do not make easy a dispassionate and clarifying study about its psychodynamic drivers and complexity. This offered Chapter of the Monograph furnishes objective and assertive analytic basis to a subjective and disabused subject of human behavior as has always been human sexuality. The authors hereby intently and resolutely undertake a stringent analysis of the subject in unconventional depth and boldness, yet within the strict limits of academic basic research in the field.
